Iby’s gift in art , she received in her genes, from her maternal grandfather & her father, both physicians. Although Iby does many acrylics on canvas, her main hobby is Porcelain Painting. In that specialty , she was taught by many famous artists in Canada & abroad.

Iby was born in Holland and was liberated in 1945 by the Canadian Troops , who literally saved her life, when she was a starving child. That’s why it must have been fate, that in 1999 she was to meet an older gentleman , selling poppies  who told her his soldier brother had died in April 1945  & was buried in Holland. When he expressed his wish to visit his brother’s grave, she made sure , that he went there in 2000, all expenses paid. When the Canadian government accidentally heard about her generosity,  she was awarded a Volunteer Medal.

Although having been a French Specialist in an English Elementary School for 38 years,  Iby also  acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree,  major in Art Education (from Concordia University) and loves to teach Art, to young children as well as seniors. These then discover talents they never knew they had. This brings utmost joy to the students  as well as to the teacher.

Le don d'Iby en art, elle l'a reçu dans ses gènes, de son grand-père maternel et de son père, tous deux médecins. Bien qu'Iby fasse beaucoup de l'acrylique sur toile, son passe-temps principal est la peinture sur porcelaine. Dans cette spécialité, elle a été enseignée par de nombreux artistes célèbres au Canada et à l'étranger.

Iby est née en Hollande et a été libérée en 1945 par les troupes canadiennes, qui lui ont littéralement sauvé la vie, alors qu'elle était une enfant affamée. C'est pourquoi cela a dû être le destin, qu'en 1999 elle devait rencontrer un homme plus âgé, vendant des coquelicots, qui lui a dit que son frère soldat était mort en avril 1945 et avait été enterré en Hollande. Lorsqu'il a exprimé son souhait de se rendre sur la tombe de son frère, elle s'est assurée qu'il s'y rende en 2000, tous frais payés. Lorsque le gouvernement canadien a accidentellement entendu parler de sa générosité, elle a reçu une Médaille du bénévolat.

Bien qu'ayant été spécialiste du français dans une école primaire anglaise pendant 38 ans, Iby a également obtenu un baccalauréat en beaux-arts, avec une majeure en éducation artistique (de l'Université Concordia) et aime enseigner l'art aux jeunes enfants ainsi qu'aux personnes âgées. Ceux-ci découvrent alors des talents qu'ils ignoraient avoir. Cela apporte la plus grande joie aux étudiants ainsi qu'à l'enseignant.
